Lab
Data
Acquisition
System

The ALDAS program is designed to read data quickly from silicon strip detectors. ALDAS also features support for the new trigger control card (TCC).

Features

This version of the program has five main functions.

The program then collects the data from the detector. After all the data has been collected the program displays a window showing the results of fitting the data to an error function.

[Threshold Scan View]

Clicking on a channel in this view shows you the raw data and the fitted curve.

[Threshold scan fit]

The other three major functions are as follows:

Explanations of these scans can be found in the help manual for the program.

New Features in Version 1.3

  • Now ALDAS allows you to select inverted hit polarity for each module attached to the system.
  • The interface for configuring your hardware has been improved.
  • Several documents have been added. The calibration document, and alignment delay documents.

More information can be found in the help files.

    Requirements

To use this program, you must have a Win95/NT machine, and the MXI-2 interface card. Also helpful are the DSP card, SLL card, and a silicon module. You may also use the TCC card if one is available. The program automatically checks for the TCC card and uses it if it is installed.

    Downloading the program

After you have downloaded the ZIP file, extract the files into the ALDAS directory. If you use WinZip, it should extract the files into the ALDAS subdirectory automatically. For information on using ALDAS read the help file.

    Source Code

For people who are interested in the source code, I provide it here. Note that you cannot compile these files into a complete project, because it is missing the resource files. This project is still in the development stage. If anyone has comments or suggestions please send them to me.
