Tests:

Electrical Characterisation

Apparatus

All tests performed with the Pseudo-Optical readout chain of the AREO card.

Chiller set to 0oC for all tests. This corresponded to a temperature of 19oC on the hybrid. Before kaptons were attached, the DC electrical connection between the hybrid and module box was measured to have a resistance of 0.4Ohms. The module was held on the cooling point with a nut screwed finger tight into place by hand, no torque was recorded.

Note that for the electrical results correction has not been done at present for the variation in the calibrate capacitor.

Results

Measured 24/06/2003 unless otherwise stated.
Typical module conditions during measurement of:

Vcc 3.5 V
Icc 940 mA
Vdd 4.0 V
Idd 580 mA
Vdet 100.0 V
Idet 8.39 uA (see note below)
Thyb 19.0 oC
  • Results file Note: The module has had over 1 month of handling. The module underwent a minor piece of re-work on the chip to fan-in bonds prior to the final set of electrical measurements. This re-work degraded the detector characteristics. The IV curve of the module prior to the last set of measurements was considerably better than that used for the final set of results. The cause of the degradation in the IV characteristic is not clear at present and will be investigated. No visual defects have been spotted.

On the 4/7/2003 a new IV measurement was performed on the module at 20oC after the detectors were cleaned. The current characteristics of the module had returned to be within specification.

    Results prior to re-work are:

    Operation at 11oC

The module was tested at the operational temperature. The cooling fluid used was at a temperature of -11oC which gave a hybrid temperature of 11oC. The module was tested in a valencia test box flushed with nitrogen gas. The valencia test box was instrumentated with a humidity sensor. The humidity inside the box remianed below 10% during all tests. The module was tested prior to the final rework (described above) and the results are shown above.

    Thermal Cycling

The module was surveyed before thermal cycling at Manchester during assembly and at Liverpool after assembly. The results are avaliable as a excel spread sheet or pdf.

The module underwent 10 cycles from +35oC to 30oC inside an environmental chamber, in accordance to the forward QA documentation. The temperture and humidity of the module box and the environmental chamber and the dew point of the air in the module box were plotted as a function of time. The module is waiting to be taken to liverpool for surveying.
