Single Module Test --- APC/WHB
==================
remember we must have the bonding field and the thermal cycling field of the database ticked as well.
Make sure that the visual inspection sheets are filled in. they were not for at least one module that I looked at.
Make copied of all the paper work and keep locally.
> Module 38
- Database Upload
> Module 41
- Characterisation Sequence
- Module LTT
- Database Upload
> Module 44 - order is not quite correct
- IV 350
- Thermal Cycle
- IV 500
- Confirmation Sequence
- Noise Occupancy
- Characterisation Sequence
- Module LTT
- Database Upload
should read: IV 350
Confirmation sequence
Send for re-work if required
Thermal cycle
IV 500V
Characterisation sequence (does confirmation sequence and NO, but also trims)
Module LTT
Database upload
(the new traveller documents have been edited and will be correct for the next module. well at least I rewrote it for joe foster.)
> need to do database upload on the first module that we completed. I was really lazy and did no database stuff. Module 43 should have database upload done as well. You should use the final full characterisation sequence for the database. This is the one done after the module LTT.
>> Ship modules to Liverpool. (Tuesday? Inform Liverpool of status on Monday). I have sent a mail to tim regarding this (cc sasha and will)
you will also get a module from liverpool to cross-check your system against theirs. Wouldn’t it be nice if we got better results?
Documentation
=============
> Internal check list (and mapping to traveller) --- WHB
> Improve the Electrical Testing document. --- APC/WHB
> Make web page for module status at Glasgow:
Module Serial | Status Of (test pending etc)
--------------------------
okay there are some perl scripts that I took from B’ham on the Dorris PC. These work I ran them.
What they do is investigate the results/moduleserialnumer_date.txt files and write a summary web page for them. They also copy files from the ps and results directory and save them to (hope this is correct area) sv005/data/sct/ in archive and results directory. I did this for two modules and the scripts worked just fine. I think that if you make many tests on a module as something does not work then you might have to edit the results file first. But you will have to do this anyhow or the database uploader will not do as you wish.
There was one piece of the jigsaw that I did not finish. This was the cgi script that I also copied from B’ham. This makes a summary web page of the modules that have been tested in glasgow by looking at the results directory.
We could have two electronic documents that might be nice. This is slightly lower priority that the above:
1: electronic version of the traveller document – I would use a clickable pdf. Very easy to write. We will have to get the full adobe software but well worth it. val has this anyway
2: electronic logbook. Okay could be nice but I am old fashioned as thus not on my wish list, but go ahead. Simple text document in the sct area on sv005 would probably do.
Do use this area. If working correctly alan has set it up so that everthing you write to the area is marked as written as group sct. And all group documents are editable by other members of the sct group. Thus removing any problems with who can read/write/run anything. I like this. This is where I am going to move the glasgow sct web pages and all the documents. Will do asap, sorry for not doing sooner.
> Check all the other documents Richard has written.
My documents – think all are okay bar the electrical testing as it is not finished. Will make them available to you when I move web pages etc.
Mechanical and Electrical
=========================
Cables
------
> Need to either borrow or buy comercial power cable.
- Contact Ashley and request one for next week. Sending Ash an e-mail after you get this.
Thermal Cycling Equipment
------------------------
> Thermal cycle testbox.
> Connector to be modified inside the chamber.
> Communication cable to be fixed.
Edit dew point calculation so that is the humidity is less than 0.1% then the humidity is 0.1% (this will prevent the problems with the dew point plot we had before)
DCS
---
> Sensors for the room temperature and humidity
- Modify panels
- Cable the sensors
> Fix stepping problem. This is a result of a communication problem with the temperature ELMB.
> Recalibrate sensors. This is not really so important as long as sensors are not massively out. We will use different test boxes in a given cable so the calibration will never be perfectly correct as each sensor if slightly different. The effort required to make sure that the test box is always in the right position might just not be worth it.
- Taking into account cable lengths and voltage drops.
- To be done once setup is complete.
> Tidy cables. Make panel. Get fred to do this
need to add all the sensor positions for the two multi module set-ups and the single (maybe two) module test box and the thermal enclosure. Make dew point calculation work for all humidity sensors
Small Box
---------
> Test two modules together and understand grounding.
- Make support frame for ground.
- Split gas connections into two. Made pipe to do this - trival
> DCS: modify small box for two DCS connections on the outside. The 9 pin D-plug on the enclosure has two 9 pin D-plugs attached. I think that I commoned the 5V supply line but it might have been ground cant remember very easy to see. Need to set-up a special 9 way cable to the enclosure rather than borrow the module six connection from the freezer.
> Tidy up the cooling lines.
- Fix leaks and insulate. What leaks!!!! I have stolen 4 pipes from the freezer set-up – more should be made – fred to do. At least one is required unless you want to re-work the enclosure patch panel (I would not as takes more time in the workshop) remember I have changed the way the pipes exit the Valencia test box for the large 6 module enclosure.
The small box should be sitting next to the large box. This is why the lid is the wrong way round. To put this is place now might not be a bad idea.
Big Box
-------
> Flanges need to be finished at workshop.
- Clamps awaiting cable decision.
> Insulation of cooling lines.
> Transport grounding knowledge from small box into big box.
> Finish Connection to Chiller
- Reduce pipe length
- Insulate pipes.
- Put wheels on the chiller. Really this is very low priority
> Either un-bolt feet and add casters or use handy angle
and build trolley.
> Test cooling capacity: with dry air. Try and do this asap. If you can run with the enclosure patch panels still in workshop then do so. They are made of metal so no good as thermal insulation. Test with 4 heaters as this is the most likely number to be used. (six all at once is probably a dream)
> Make more flat cables depending on comercial cable test.
Freezer
-------
> Clamps awaiting cable decision.
> Cooling
- Order more distribution blocks and make up fan out.
> Control chiller via RS232. nice but not in the to ten of jobs to do.
Freezer has also not been tested to make sure that it can go cold enough with the chiller. Really needs dry ari supply to do this test.
Gas Control
-----------
> Automation of the gas flow
- needs relay, board/programmable power supply
- Make PVSS panel to control gas.
Again a nice thing to do once everything is running.
DAQ
---
> HV Card
- One HV card on order.
- Buy fuses. Commercial – test with DVM, order
> LV Cards
- One LV3 is at Prague. (To be fixed and returned.)
- Ask for 3 LV3 cards. Not sure we need them or can get them
- Need 13 boards. Parts for 8 (10 circuit boards in hand)
> Need components for 5 more boards.
> Need 3 more circuit boards.
The LV cards. We have in glasgow 2xLV3 and 2xLV2. one LV2 was sent from glasgow to be fixed. RLB to chase. One LV3 either at Prague or cern – RLB to chase
> AERO
- Need one more VME card from Ashley
- Need at least 12 more of the patch cards.
No need to do anything here will come when Ashley has made them. We will get 10 more patch cards and 1 more VME card.
> Laser Setup
- Test DAQ for new hybrids.
- Obtain one more power supply. Using BC96 here. Should check that it can draw the currents – i.e. make sure that the currents don’t trip when you turn the system on. Do we need another support card?? RLB can get one from cern maybe? I don’t think we need to get another power supply quite yet.
Bonding
-------
> Improve bonding jig to grip the hybrid.
- Make design.
- Produce a copy for the other bonder.
> Training
- Train Meg and Fred.
In all reality I think that it will be meg that will be the second bonder
> Get bonders to use BondingUploadGUI and upload bonding defects.
This is at the top of the to do list. Hassle john about it.
Design should be made via conversation with ray and john melone. Can only happen when thermal cycle box finished. Need to make the first norel hybrid holder test it to see if it works with hybrid both ways up. we have some chips I think (or can get them if need be) that we could stick onto one of the dummies that we have so that we can test chip to fan-in bonds.
Got new version of module holder. John should have it. he needs to see if it can be used as is or if changes need to happen. If need changes then we will do them in house. Let me know the outcome of this.
Manchester will be making dummy middles quite soon as well. Need to write programs from this.
IF WE ARE GOING TO USE THHE SECOND BONDER then john needs to
1: get a second set of all the jigs made – at least 1 month in our workshop.
2: write all the programs again for this machine. We cant move prgarmss from one machine to another. Things broke the last time!!!!
Infrastructure
==============
Housekeeping
------------
> Finish cable tray
> Notice board for papers.
> Move modules and other documentation from shelves.
> Organise documentation: folders for plots etc. this is not required all plots are kept on the pc and will be archived on sv005/data/ seems like a waist of time and trees.
Clean Room
----------
> Expand space and put in changing area. Expanding space wont happen. We got money to do this but cant do it until module production is over. Wont get the money till april. Changing area costs should therefore be cheap. Nice bench etc.
> Organise clothing and shelves. Must be done – can fred order a low profile locker for the coats to keep them clean. They are just going to get dusty where they are.
> Buy rack for Test boxes.
> Buy bin for inside clean room.
Dry Air Equipment
-----------------
this is for Will to get fred to do. Don’t let fred get john to do it as john has to do bonding stuff!!!!
I would put this quite high on the to do list as it impacts on the freezer and big box final operation and the thermal cycling.
> Receiver
- Mounting on MDF and casters.
- Order extra connectors, valves and pressure gauge.
> Dryer
- Mount on MDF.
> Compressor investigate either damping stand or order quiet model.
> Test compressor and dryer for purity.
- This does not need to include the receiver but the test should be redone after it
is connected.
>Drill a hole through wall and connect to air line.
I would order things as:
Workshop to do list:
--------------------
Finish thermal box
Hybrid jig mods.
Mods of handling frame
Second set of jigs for everything starting with bbonding table.
Freddy
------
dry air kit
cable tray
order things required (fuses, etc)
get stuff of the changing area of the clean room
John Melone
-----------
test new module handelling frame
design hybrid bonding jig
test above
train meg
write new programs for the second bonder
write middle module programs when we get a middle module
meg
----
insulate the big box and test with thermal load
make a few more chokes
learn to bond
make more signal cables as required
Sasha
-----
Finish off testing modules – with Will
Make use of perl scripts and database uploader
Multi-module testing – I would get the big box working (thermal tests etc)
Finish off the thermal cycle set-up when the boxes arrive from ray
Sort DCS ELMB problems
Add all boxes to DCS and crate the correct charts – eidt documentation with details
Re-train meg on the thermal cycling tests
Will
----
finish off modules – with Sasha
check out perl scripts and edit the cgi script
sctdaq up and running on second machine
work with fred on the dry air
multi-module testing - freezer
can I ask you to swop ben lomand with cobbler
kill ben lomand (eventually)
move the new Dell machine into the lab. This is a quicker machine than cobbler. It only takes a few house to set up the VME stuff on one of these machines
