Magnetic Core Memory From 1960

Memory Image With Lens

Gif Image Magnetic Core Memory

This magnetic core memory card, below left, came from a printer made by IBM in the 1960'ies. The close up of a section of the memory card on the right, incorporates a lens which gives a bit more detail of the actual wiring and cores. To utilise the lens, just move the mouse pointer over the top of the lens and it will automatically move in unison with the mouse pointer to whatever area of the image you wish to view, this will continue whilst the mouse pointer remains within the border of the image. On the previous page, you have the option to read the Technical manual which described its principles of operation, do remember that the manual is written in the 1960'ies and in it's time, was at the forefront of new technology.
