Physics 2X Course Guide

General aim:

This course investigates rotational dynamics and vibrating systems from mechanical, classical and quantum systems. The ideas of periodic and simple harmonic motion are introduced, and free and forced vibrations of mechanical systems are studied. The course establishes the statistical ideas required in order to understand measurements made in the laboratory. These ideas are then used to analyse thermal properties at the microscopic level.
