Saxon Fest
Travel Directions
The Saxon Fest Celebration will be held on Friday the 30th of May in the Senate Room of Glasgow University.
Travel into Glasgow is summarised here.
Once in Glasgow, follow these directions:
- By bus from the Airport: Take the Glasgow
Flyer to Queen Street Station and then by underground to Hillhead.
(Alternatively take a taxi to the University).
- By train to Glasgow Central: Walk to St.
Enoch's underground station (a few minutes, but not easy to find; walk
along Argyle Street and you will see it to your right) and take the
underground to Hillhead. The main University building is five minutes from
Hillhead underground (see map).
- By train at Glasgow Queen Street: Walk to
Buchanan Street underground station (signposted, just across the road from
the exit of Queen Street station) and take underground to Hillhead. The
main University building is five minutes from Hillhead underground (see
map).
- By car: Only come by car if you know of
somewhere to park. The car park marked on the map will be full.
The Senate Room is in the main University building (the one with the
big clock tower), marked in yellow (A18) on the map below. To find the
senate room, it is best to enter the building from the south entrance,
marked with a big red arrow on the map. This entrance is directly below
the clock tower. Go through the glass doors, turn right, through another
set of doors and up the stairs. Turn left at the top of the stairs and the
senate room is at the end of the corridor, through the Carnegie room.
